So. I loved the BDO, it was my first festival and definitely the best music event I've been to.
I started at the Lilypad but just missed the 11 o'clock thing so I headed over to DJ Two Up, who was great and got me into the mood of the day. After him I headed down for The Donnas but 'cause I stayed for all of Two Up's set I was right at the back for The Donnas, they were excellent regardless. When they were done I got some chips and a drink and figured out the rest of my day. I went in for DJ Danielsan and danced myself into a frenzy, then Scribe & P Money came on the the crowd went nuts. Scibe worked the crowd really well and had people jumping around and getting right into it, and Deceptikonz came in on the act for a bit which was awesome. After Scribe I headed out to get something to each and drink again, which is when I had the aforementioned wedges while I was sitting at the back of Kid Koala, then got up the front and got right into his performance. When he'd wrapped up I headed in and watched BeXta, who was fucken great and worked me right up for the following act, and my highlight of the day - the Freestylers. By the time they'd finished the crowd was saturated with perspiration and everyone was stopping to catch their breath. The way the MCs worked the crowd and got people involved was fucking excellent, and made the whole day perfect. After coming down from the buzz of the Freestylers I headed over to watch System of a Down, who I've never really listened to, and decided after about four or five songs that I didn't like them very much at all so I retreated to the Lilypad and had a bite to eat. Feeling much better after some fruit salad, I headed down to the main stage area and watched Powderfinger, where I felt really out of place 'cause I think I was the only person in the crowd who didn't know every single word to all of their songs. All through Powderfinger the crowd was creeping forwards and to the left, progressively away from the Orange Stage with Powderfinger, and towards the Blue Stage, which was being set up for the Beastie Boys. As the crowd was pushing forwards, the group of people I was moving with suddenly all felt warm splashes on our legs and feet. We were all looking at each other accusingly until we noticed a guy just to our side who was on his knees pissings through the gaps between peoples legs and into their shoes (my shoes stink now and I'm going to put them through the machine). The guy was fairly close to getting a walloping from a couple of guys that were in the group, until one of the guys' girlfriend said to let it go. Eventually, I managed to get about five or six people back from the fence line seperating the crowd from the most pit, which was good 'cause I could at least see parts of the stage and I could see Mix Master Mike's decks and the big screen they had up. Unfortunately by the time they'd started a group of guys to shove their way up to where I was, and to my left I had a group of 18 or 19 year old guys who were off their tits and to the right I had a group of muscleheads who were all on pills. So the B Boys started, I couldn't see a thing 'cause my ace spot had been compromised, and I was getting hit and elbowed by the muscleheads as they went nuts. It was the only point in the day when I felt like I wasn't having a fantastic time, which pissed me off 'cause the act that made me go to the event was on stage. They got to the point where one of them elbowed me in the eye so I shoved him aside and told him to calm the fuck down, and I was really suprised when he actually did. By then they'd gotten to Intergalactic and the boys came down from the stage and went through the gaps between the pit and the stage, then between the pit and the rest of the crowd, and Ad-rock jumped up on the barrier in front of me, little more than a metre away. That way fucken cool (and I may have a pic, have to get film developed). So they headed back to the stage after that and performed Gratitude, and wrapped up the set with Sabotage, and everyone went absolutely insane. I stuck around there for most of the Chemical Brothers who put on an awesome light show (and they had a fucken two million volt tesla coil) and headed off to see the last act of the night, Regurgitator. I was feeling rough from the wedges by then and I was getting tired, so I only hung around for about half of their performance before making the trip home. The trip home only took about 45 minutes from Olympic Park, whereas during the week it can take that long just to get to Bondi Junction from here. Fucked.
Anyway. There are a few other things coming up, I'll have to check my finances and do some prioritising over the next week or so.

As Dave Chappelle says, the scariest dude in a black gang is the white dude, 'cause he'd have to do some crazy fucked up shit to be accepted in.
