I lost the shoes. There were eight seconds left to go, I entered a bid for an extra $15 hoping that'd be enough to beat the other bidder (and reaching the most that I wanted to pay for the shoes) but the page didn't submit in time. Outbid by a dollar.

edit: just got a second chance email, same item, was relisted almost immediately. That makes me think that the other bidder was just pushing up the price for the seller... but hey, I'm getting 'em for $85.
